Prom Hair Styles Tips

Hair tips for your big night

For your prom hair styles you have two options - do it yourself, or go to a professional.

Going to a professional means that you don't have to worry about making a mistake - they have done similar hair styles many times before. Make sure the stylist knows exactly what you want, otherwise you may end up with something you hate. It is best to take in a picture from a magazine (or even web site) that show's the look you are going for.

If you can afford it, book two sessions with your stylist. The first booking is a trial session 3-4 weeks before the prom, (to make sure you like what they do). The second booking is for the day of the prom.

On your prom day, make sure you get to your hair stylist appointment several minutes early. Your stylist will have a lot of appointments to do that day, and if you are late they may not be able to fit you in to do your hair!

If you are going to do your hair yourself, make sure you experiment with different prom hair styles up to 4 weeks before the prom, then (once you find a style you like) practice practice and practice some more!

Many magazines (for example, Prom Magazine) have how-to articles and pictures that you can refer to. Check your local library to see if they have back issues.

No matter who does your hair, make sure that if you are an active dancer you have enough pins in your hair to keep it in place! There is nothing worse than having your hair style ruined for the evening just from dancing.
